Frequently Asked Questions

  • During the initial consultation, I will ask for a brief description of what problems you are hoping to address. I will also provide you with a brief overview of my therapeutic approach so that we can both decide if this is the right fit. Once we schedule an appointment, I will provide you with some paperwork that can be filled out and submitted electronically prior to the appointment. During our first session together, we will dive into the issues right away, while I may also be asking some historical questions to ensure I fully understand your story and the big picture.

  • Therapy is a process and its length depends on your personal goals and progress. Typically, it takes about 1-2 sessions to chart out the problem areas you would like to address and to come up with a plan together. However, it does not mean that no therapeutic work will be done during this time. I strongly believe that we can dive into addressing the problems that bring you in from the very beginning of the therapy process. Ultimately, you will be in charge of deciding how long you would like therapy to last given my professional recommendations.

  • I offer free 15-minute consultations.

My fee for a 50-minute session is $175.

Weekly sessions are highly recommended during the initial phase of the therapy processes.

  • I am in network with some insurance plans: Aetna, United Healthcare/Optum, and other plans affiliated with these two.

In addition, I provide superbills to be submitted for reimbursement from insurance companies where I am out of network.

If you have any questions around insurance and reimbursement, please reach out and I’ll be happy to discuss in more detail. I am here to help!

  • Yes, I offer in-person sessions. My office is located in Carlsbad.

In addition, I offere walk and talk therapy sessions. We can meet at selected locations for a stroll outside while talking about your concerns. There are great benefits associated with therapy sessions that are conducted outside while walking.

  • I use a HIPAA compliant, safe, and confidential meeting space for all of my virtual appointments. Telehealth has its own risks and benefits that we can discuss in detail before we dive into the therapy process. However, I have facilitated hundreds of virtual sessions and I believe that the benefits greatly outweigh the risks. Teletherapy is a safe and effective way to receive therapeutic care from the comfort of your own home. It is also more flexible and convenient, giving you direct access to many more therapists than in your immediate geographical area.
